Do you have a life verse? A verse that seems like God wrote it just for you because it's so filled with meaning? Mine came to me several years ago. I remember the day....it was cold and I was sitting in front of the fire with my Bible and a delicious cup of hot coffee. I was praying and reading and a scripture just jumped off the page; I felt like it was highlighted, but it wasn't. Here it is from "The Message" Bible -
I've been living the first part (Isaiah 58:11) for the past few years:
If you get rid of unfair practices, quit blaming victims, quit gossiping about other people's sins,
If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out,
Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.
I will always show you where to go. I'll give you a full life in the emptiest of places -
firm muscles, strong bones. You'll be like a well-watered garden, a gurgling spring that
never runs dry.
I've been living that part, except for the firm muscles and strong bones - I need those now more than ever!
I firmly believe the second half of my life will be based on the next part of that scripture (Isaiah 58:12)
You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew, rebuild the foundations from out of your
past.
You'll be known as those who can fix anything, restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate,
make the community livable again.
I think about my family, my neighborhood, my city and the world. I meditate on Christ's redemptive power and how I long for these verses to be made real in my life. You see, The Bible tells us that God delights in the desires of our hearts when they match up with His (Psalm 37:4). I hope you see Him working His word through your life!
Leslie gave me your blog address and enjoy your writing very much!
My life verse is Colossians 2:2. My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ...
Keep on writing!
